Upper Yarra RSL – Yarra Junction

THE helpful staff at the Upper Yarra RSL know everyone’s tastes are different.

That’s why their new menu now has something for everyone, from lunch to dinner, kids and seniors, everyone is catered for.

Chef Tyrone McKenzie says the new-look menu is part of the RSL’s commitment to serving the wider community.

“We want everyone to be able to visit the RSL and be able to find a meal that they can enjoy,” Mr McKenzie says.

“With our new light menu and commitment to providing kids and seniors meals, there really is something for everyone.”

The new light menu includes a gourmet-styled baked potato, homemade mini quiches, a Mediterranean focaccia, chicken and asparagus filos and chargrilled parcels.

“These lighter meals are perfect for lunch with friends or even a kids dinner,” Mr McKenzie said.

“We wanted to create some more café-style options for people who didn’t want to eat a big meal.”

There are still plenty of hearty meals on the menu, including the chicken parmigiana, battered fish, pasta carbonara and vegetable risotto. Some of the larger meals even come with lighter options such as those from the ‘Not So Naughty’ menu.

“People can still order their favourite dish but we can make it a bit healthier,” Mr McKenzie said.

“Some of these options include the Naked Parma, which is without all the breadcrumbs and the Not So Creamy Carbonara, which is the same dish minus all the cream.”

A changing specials menu is also on display featuring dishes not on the menu, while seniors are still treated to a 20 per cent discount on meals from the standards menu.

All dietary requirements including vegetarians and diabetics can request special meals minus specific ingredients by just asking the staff.

If you’re after a snack, coffees and cake are also available with a range of desserts on display as well as a special cappuccino machine.

“A lot of places these days don’t welcome families and kids but we are open to one and all,” Mr McKenzie said.

“So come and check out the new-look menu at the RSL and plan your next function here.”
